NOTE: Our Instructors teach with a variety of training methods. Classes are coded according to the following key:
F (Food) – The use of food as a reward/motivator is strongly encouraged.
N (No Food) – The use of food is not permitted in class.
C (Combination) – Food is permitted, but the class will also utilize training techniques that do not rely upon food.

BASIC OBEDIENCE CLASSES
PUPPY CLASS: For puppies from 8 weeks to 5 months of age on the first day of class. Born Aug. 5 to Nov. 11, 2013.

DROP-IN PUPPY CLASS: For puppies 8 to 22 weeks old on the first day attending class (for example, born on or after August 5, 2013 if you are attending the January 6 class).
This class will run for 10 weeks from Jan. 6 to March 10 and is structured to allow for one day at a time participation or up to 10 weeks. Emphasis will be on manners and socialization.
Please follow your veterinarian’s recommendations on when to begin classes.

S.T.A.R. PUPPY CLASS: For puppies from 5- 7 months of age on the first day of class. Supervised small group play time included. No previous class required. Includes S.T.A.R. Puppy test (registration with AKC not required).

LIFE SKILLS FOR A FAMILY DOG: Improve the skills learned in Beg. I, Beg. II, or Puppy class by learning to apply them to daily life with a dog. Class will be based on levels/needs of participants. Must have taken at least one previous class.

ADVANCED CANINE GOOD CITIZENSHIP (CGC): This class will build on the basic skills learned in CGC with increased distractions. Dogs must have taken and passed CGC, or have instructor approval.

THERAPY DOG TRAINING CLASS: This class is open ONLY to those handlers seeking the TDI title who plan to do therapy work in the community. Dogs must have taken the CGC class or have TDI instructor approval.

COMPETITION OBEDIENCE CLASSES
BUILDING DRIVE & ENGAGEMENT: This class will show you how to build your dog's intensity for any activity (obedience, agility, etc...) with toys and food. If you've been struggling to keep your adult dog's attention or you want to get things started on the right paw with your puppy or young dog, please join us. No dog or people aggressive dogs.

BODY AWARENESS: For dogs who have completed Beginner I and II, or have instructor approval. Class will cover pivots, fronts, finishes, heel, sits/downs, and dog body awareness exercises.

AKC BEGINNER NOVICE: Must have instructor approval. This class will introduce the AKC optional titling class, Beginner Novice.

CFF PREPARATION FOR PERFORMANCE AND MENTORING: For dogs who have taken Intro to CFF or with instructor approval. Requirements for mentoring are a good off-leash heel, and CGC and/or Advanced Rally or instr. approval.
Saturday 12:00 PM -2:00 PM – Diane Holleman, Robin Setzer, Sarah Jinnah, Rickie Morrison (Instructors) – Limit 8 F
Mentoring runs 6 weeks; Performance runs 8 weeks
NOVICE RALLY: For dogs who have completed Beginner II and CGC and are just beginning Rally or need to reinforce Novice Rally exercises. All exercises will be on leash.

ADVANCED/EXCELLENT RALLY: For dogs who have completed Novice or Advanced Rally. Dogs should be able to work off lead. Priority given to dogs & handlers who have not taken Advanced Rally before.

PREP FOR RALLY COMPETITION: For all levels of Rally with emphasis on Advanced & Excellent Levels. Dogs and handlers should have taken Novice and Advanced Rally and should know all Rally exercises.

BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE OPEN: Students will continue to train the heel free and figure eight exercises plus introduce the dumbbell, drop on recall, and jumping. Dogs must have the CD title or instructor approval.

PROOF & POLISH: On and off lead heeling. Open to those ready to compete, or with instructor approval.

BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE UTILITY: This class will introduce Utility Obedience exercises. Dogs must be retrieving.

UTILITY DRILLS, PROOFS, & POLISHES: This class is a place to proof, polish, or train the utility exercises. Each night, a different Utility exercise will be the focus of the evening. Dog need not be ring ready, but only limited guidance/teaching is available. Open to those dogs with a CD title, or with instructor approval.

AGILITY, FLYBALL, AND TRACKING
BEGINNING FLYBALL: This class will teach the basic foundations of Flyball and introduce beginning Flyball training. Dogs must be at least one year old and must have completed at least one structured obedience class (additional classes and/or Intro to Performance Sports highly recommended, but not required). Dogs MUST be non-aggressive toward both people and other dogs, and should have a reliable recall in a distracting environment.
Friday 6:30 PM – Sharon Neal (Instructor); First In Flight Flyball Team Members (Assistants) – Limit 6 C
BEGINNING AGILITY I: For dogs who have completed Performance Sports or have instructor permission. Must have good off leash control & reliable recall. Dog/handler teams will be introduced to agility equipment and basic handling.
Thursday 7:00 PM – Sarah Fix (Instr); Beth Hubbartt, Louise Mowbray, Dave & Becky Parker (Asst’s) – Limit 12 F
SMALL DOG AGILITY PRACTICE: For dogs who have completed Performance Sports or have instructor permission. Must have good off leash control and reliable recall. Dog/handler teams will be introduced to agility equipment and basic handling exercises. Dogs must jump 12” and under (measure under 14” tall).

AGILITY HANDLING SKILLS: For handlers to practice and build their skills. Dogs must be able to perform all obstacles.
Friday 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM – Arlene Stadler (Instructor) – Limit 6 F
AGILITY DRILLS: All dog/handler teams must be competing at the Open/Exc levels or have instructor approval. Dogs must be able to do 12 weave poles and front & rear crosses.

CLASSES ARE 8 WEEKS UNLESS NOTED.
CLASS COSTS (unless noted above):
Any class listed above is $85.00 for the first class at WSDTC. Any subsequent class is $75.00
Interns pay $37.50 for all classes ($18.75 with Class Voucher)
Members pay $18.75 for all classes (free with Class Voucher).
FIELD USAGE FEES, in ADDITION to class fees above
All students in the outside agility classes will pay a $10.00 fee per dog.
Members and interns in the tracking classes will pay a $25.00 fee (if they have not paid the Hilltops usage fee)
All funds must be received with the registration form from everyone (including interns and members) desiring to enroll in a class(es). Forms received without the proper enrollment fee will be returned to the owner and a place in the class will not be held.
